The University of Akron School of Law invites applications for a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure track Assistant Professor of Academic Success Program, beginning January 1, 2025. The professor will teach 10-12 credits per year, focusing primarily on academic & bar success.
The Assistant Professor will oversee the academic success and bar preparation programs and direct the work of the Assistant Director and Director of ASP. This position will also counsel and tutor students to ensure academic success, support students by conducting workshops and supplying assistance with basic writing and analytical skills as needed and utilize technology innovations to enhance students’ learning experience. This position will also assist students with basic writing and analytical skills and collaborate with the Director of Legal Writing.
Candidates should have strong academic records (including a J.D. or its equivalent) and either experience in law practice or a judicial clerkship (or both). They should be able to show a strong interest and competency in teaching legal research and writing.
Required Qualifications: a Juris doctor or equivalent law degree, and either experience practicing law or a judicial clerkship (or both).
Preferred Qualifications: A demonstrated record of or potential for successful scholarship and teaching.
