Regardless of how you feel about the next administration coming in[1], the bottom line is we are going to need more lawyers. So as the Avengers would say, ASP professionals…assemble![2]
Seriously, we are going to need lawyers who work in basic civil and human rights. We are going to need lawyers who work in reproductive freedom, immigration, LGTBQIA+ rights, education, elections, executive power, and a host of other areas that I cannot even begin to imagine. And the students in front of us today are going to be the ones on the front lines. We need to get them ready.
By the time our current 1Ls graduate, everything they have learned (or are about to learn) in Constitutional Law may be different. We need to prepare them to be mentally nimble and creative. We need to nurture and celebrate their ability to communicate complex and shifting ideas. We need them to pass the bar and take flight. In short, we need to play the end game.
This is an ASP all-hands call. Let’s get down to business[3].

[1] Isn’t that diplomatic of me? My real thoughts are not as calm, trust me.
[2] Movies are a source of comfort these days…
[3] You try explaining who Donny Osmond is to a bunch of undergrads without feeling ancient….
