The University of Pittsburgh School of Law invites applications for an Associate Dean for Academic Excellence. The Associate Dean for Academic Excellence will join the Pitt Law faculty as an Associate or Full Professor in either the tenure or appointment stream, depending on qualifications or preference.
Pitt Law seeks an innovative Associate Dean for Academic Excellence to manage programs to enhance student academic performance in law school and to increase the likelihood of success of graduating students on the bar exam. The main responsibilities of the Associate Dean for Academic Excellence will be to develop and manage an academic excellence and bar success department, design and implement academic success programs for students, design and implement programs for the success of graduating students on the bar exam, and to design and use data-oriented strategies to evaluate bar exam outcomes. The Associate Dean for Academic Excellence will teach bar success courses and may have the opportunity to teach substantive courses, depending on curricular needs and workload. The Associate Dean for Academic Excellence will serve as an advisor to the Dean and the Vice Dean on matters relating to student success in law school and on the bar exam. The position reports to the Vice Dean.
Minimum requirements for the position include a J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school, an outstanding academic record, significant professional experience in legal education with academic success and bar readiness programs, experience in preparing students for the bar exam, expertise on the NextGen bar exam, and a commitment to teaching in an environment dedicated to excellence in the teaching and mentoring of students.
